LeVar Burton

LeVar Burton č nato a Landsthul, Germania Ovest, il 16 febbraio 1957 e, dopo
aver vinto una borsa di studio alla University of Southern California, ha
iniziato a frequentare il corso di laurea in arte drammatica.
Durante il secondo anno di corso č stato scelto per interpretare il ruolo del
giovane Kunta Kinte nello sceneggiato televisivo Roots (Radici),
ruolo per il quale ha ottenuto un Emmy ed č divenuto famoso in tutto il mondo.
Tra i lavori televisivi ricordiamo da citare A Root Christmas: Kunta Kinte's
Gift in cui hanno recitato anche Avery Brooks,
Kate Mulgrew e Tim Russ.
Da sedici anni presenta e produce la serie per bambini Reading Rainbow trasmessa
dal canale pubblico americano PBS, in cui l'attore, tra le altre cose, legge
brani di letteratura e poesia ai giovani spettatori. La serie č stata gią
premiata con l'Emmy nella categoria «Outstanding Children's Series» e ha
ottenuto anche il prestigioso premio NAACP Image come «Outstanding Performance
in a Youth or Children's Series Special».
Burton č anche produttore ed č presidente della societą Eagle Nation Films.
Con i suoi colleghi Patrick Stewart,
Jonathan Frakes e
Michael Dorn ha inoltre aiutato Brent Spiner
nella realizzazione dell'album di quest'ultimo, Yellow Eyes is Back,
prestando la sua voce ai cori dei diversi brani.
