048 - Cogenitor

Febbraio 2153: Mentre sta studiando una stella che sta per diventare supernova, l'equipaggio dell'Enterprise incontra alcuni Vissiani. Il primo contatto procede in modo tranquillo finché Tucker diventa un po' troppo curioso sul terzo sesso della specie, il cogenitore.

In questo episodio...

• Avviene il primo contatto con i Vissiani.
• Secondo Archer prima di quel momento nessuna nave terrestre era mai giunta più vicina di 10 anni luce a una ipergigante.

• Laura Interval è lo pseudonimo di Laura Stepp.
• Reed dice che le armi portatili dell'Enterprise sono alimentate da una cella al sarium. Questo materiale probabilmente è lo stesso che da The Next Generation in avanti sarà parte delle celle al sarium-krellide usate per scopi simili.
• Quando Veylo chiede a Reed se i siluri dell'armeria dell'Enterprise sono dotati di testate fotoniche, lui risponde che non ha familiarità con questo termine. Però ne aveva già sentito parlare in Sleeping Dogs nella nave klingon. Forse era distratto da qualcos'altro mentre era con Veylo.

• Quando Reed fa visitare l'armeria alla Vissiana, su uno dei siluri c'è il numero 298166 (81 + 66 = 147) [T:22:55], su un altro c'è il numero 0782317 ( 3 + 1 = 4) [T:23:11].
• La nave vissiana viene rilevata in direzione 261.4 (6 + 1 = 7).

• In occasione della prima trasmissione in Italia, questo episodio è stato trasmesso senza i titoli di coda ed è stato unito a First Flight. Tra i due episodi, oltre la pausa pubblicitaria è stato trasmesso un breve stacco che mostra l'Enterprise mentre entra in curvatura e il logo «Star Trek Enterprise» accompagnati da un jingle tratto dalla sigla di apertura.
• Quando Archer rimprovera Trip riguardo il suo comportamento con le usanze dei Vissiani gli dice qualcosa del tipo «Capirei se tu fossi un novellino del primo anno», mentre in lingua originale la battuta è «I might agree if this was Florida, or Singapore... but it's not, is it?»
• Quando Tucker parla della portata del teletrasporto, in italiano dice che il raggio è di 2.000 chilometri, non 20.000.
