140 - The Icarus Factor

Data Stellare 42686.4: L'Enterprise è diretta verso la base stellare Montgomery per controllare alcune piccole anomalie verificatesi nella sala macchine. Alla base giunge una comunicazione: il capitano della Aries ha deciso di ritirarsi e Riker è stato scelto come suo rimpiazzo. La persona inviata a bordo dell'Enterprise per dare le istruzioni necessarie a Riker si rivela essere il padre del primo ufficiale: i due non si vedevano da quindici anni e i loro rapporti non possono definirsi ottimi.

• Si vede per la prima volta l'ufficio di Deanna Troi.
• Data accenna per la prima volta alla possibilità di ricristallizzare il dilitio a bordo della nave [T:00:34].

Però l'orbita sincrona indica che un corpo ruota attorno a un pianeta ad una velocità pari a quella di rotazione del pianeta, mantenendosi sempre sulla verticale del medesimo punto.

                        When Commander Riker says right

        With that, Wesley heads off down the corridor, leaving

        are at the bar, Kyle just shaking hands with an old
        acquaintance as Geordi and Data find a table in the
        b.g.

Il dialogo tra Worf e Riker che avviene nell'alloggio del primo ufficiale a [T:14:03], è leggermente differente da quello visto nell'episodio. Le parti in grigio indicano le battute molto simili a quelle presenti nell'episodio:

Quando Geordi spiega a O'Brien il fastidio che prova per l'intrusione del personale tecnico della base stellare Montgomery che si aggira nella sua sala macchine, la frase di Data dell'episodio in cui condivideva il sentimento di Geordi «If I were not a consummate professional, and an android, I would find this entire procedure insulting», nello script era semplicemente «Geordi, let them look».

Nell'episodio al termine del rito dell'Ascensione Worf ringrazia con un semplice «Grazie» i suoi amici che lo hanno assistito nel rituale, mentre nello script la battuta era «Thank you, my friends. Thank you... You have my respect. My admiration. My eternal gratitude...».

Durante il duello di anbo-jytsu nell'episodio sono stati tagliati alcuni dialoghi tra William Riker ed il padre. Le parti in grigio sono quelle presenti nell'episodio:

Nello script era previsto che l'ultima scena fosse quella dell'Enterprise che entra in curvatura; nell'episodio si vede, giustamente, la nave allontanarsi ad impulso dal pianeta poiché il balzo a curvatura nei pressi di un pianeta sarebbe stata un'incongruenza.
