134 - A Matter of Honor

Data Stellare 42506.5: Nell'ambito di uno scambio tra ufficiali di razze diverse, l'Enterprise ospita a bordo il Guardiamarina Mendon che dovrà osservare, imparare e far tesoro delle procedure di comportamento a bordo di una nave della Federazione. Non sarà facile per il giovane adattarsi ad un altro tipo di disciplina, ma riuscirà a capire che diverso non significa necessariamente peggiore o migliore. Non sarà facile neppure per Riker che, nella stessa atmosfera di scambio culturale, diventerà il primo ufficiale di un incrociatore dell'Impero Klingon.

Blooper

• Picard prende un bicchiere con una bevanda klingon con la mano destra [T:09:04]; nell'inquadratura successiva, lo regge con la mano sinistra [T:09:07].

• In questo episodio i Klingon utilizzano i chilometri come unità di misura lineare, mentre in Redemption e in Star Trek III usano i kellican.

Prima che il gruppo di ufficiali venga teletrasportato dalla base stellare 179 sull'Enterprise, nello script era prevista la seguente scena, in cui alcuni membri dell'Enterprise si teletrasportano dalla nave per essere riassegnati ad altri incarichi.

7    INT. TRANSPORTER ROOM (OPTICAL)

        FIVE MEMBERS of the Enterprise crew (three men, two
        women) stand on the transporter pads. Riker and the
        TRANSPORTER CHIEF O'BRIEN at the control panel.
        Wesley is off to one side. Riker eyes them with a
        warmth and with a sense of humor.

                                        RIKER
                        This is my last chance to say that
                        it has been a pleasure to serve
                        with you and to wish you luck on
                        your new assignment. You have
                        served the Enterprise well.
                                (slight smile)
                        No tears, please.

        Before the members on the pad can cover their smiles to
        answer:

                                        RIKER
                                (continuing)
                        Energize.

        The five crewmembers DEMATERIALIZE. Wesley and Riker
        laugh.

        Transporter Chief O'Brien responds to a signal on the
        panel, announces in response.

                                        CHIEF O'BRIEN
                        Enterprise ready. Beam aboard.

Quando Picard raggiunge Riker al bar di prora mentre sta cenando con delle pietanze klingon, nell'episodio manca un brano di dialogo presente nello script:

                                        PICARD
                        I see... Well, their food may be
                        somewhat backward but the Klingons
                        are efficient, loyal to their
                        beliefs, and are regulated by a
                        strict code of ethics.

                                        PULASKI
                        True enough. They tend to lean
                        towards a Samurai civilization

Parlando del cibo klingon con cui sta cenando Riker, nell'episodio Picard dice «I usually made more palatable choices» e Riker risponde «Well, these are the more palatable choices» [T:08:59]; nello script il termine usato era invece «most civil choices», un termine piuttosto scomodo da usare per gli alleati Klingon.

La scena tra [T:23:06] e [T:25:40] in cui Riker, Klag e l'ufficiale tattico della Pagh parlano durante la cena non è presente nello script.
