pon farr.
Spock: It is undignified for a woman to play servant to a man who is not hers. [T:03:13]
Kirk: I suppose most of us overlook the fact that even Vulcans aren't indestructible. [T:04:45]
Kirk: Sailor's luck, Mr.Spock. Or as one of Finable's Laws puts it: «Any home port the ship makes will be somebody else's, not mine!» [T:05:18]
Sulu: How do you figure it, Chekov? First we're going to Vulcan, then we're going to Altair, then we're headed to Vulcan again. And now we're headed back to Altair.
Chekov: I think I'm going to get space sick. [T:07:58]
Kirk: There's no need to be embarrassed about it, Spock. It happens to the birds and the bees.
Spock: The birds and the bees are not Vulcans, Captain. [T:13:57]
Spock: We shield it with ritual and customs shrouded in antiquity. You humans have no conception. It strips our minds from us. It brings a madness which rips away the veneer of civilization. It is the Pon farr, the time of mating. [T:14:50]
Kirk: I owe him my life a dozen times over -isn't that worth a career? He's my friend. [T:18:23]
Kirk: In the distant past Vulcans killed to win their mates.
McCoy: And they still go mad at this time. Perhaps the price they pay for having no emotions the rest of the time. [T:23:55]
McCoy: Yeah, hot as Vulcan. Now I understand what that phrase means. [T:24:14]
Kirk: Another thing: that's T'Pau of Vulcan. All of Vulcan in one package. How can I back out in front of her? [T:35:05]
Spock: After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing, after all, as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true. [T:43:48]
Spock: Live long, T'Pau, and prosper.
T'Pau: Live long and prosper, Spock. [T:44:18]
McCoy: There's just one thing, Mr. Spock. You can't tell me that when you first saw Jim alive, that you weren't about to give us an emotional scene that would have blown the house down.
Spock: Merely my quite logical relief that Starfleet had not lost a highly proficient captain.
Kirk: Yes, Mr. Spock. I understand.
Spock: Thank you, Captain.
McCoy: Of course, Mr. Spock, your reaction was quite logical.
Spock: Thank you, Doctor.
McCoy: In a pig's eye!
Kirk: Come on, Spock. Let's go mind the store. [T:46:51]
