17 maggio 2154: Dopo che alcuni
Umani geneticamente modificati attaccano una nave da guerra
klingon uccidendo tutto l'equipaggio, l'Impero minaccia la guerra con la
Terra per vendicarsi dei guerrieri morti. La
Flotta Stellare scopre che gli attaccanti sono umani cresciuti da embrioni del XX secolo rubati da
Arik Soong circa venti anni prima. Per evitare una guerra distruttiva, Archer cerca l'aiuto del dottor
Soong per fermare i superuomini prima che sia troppo tardi, ma alcuni
Orioniani in una scorribanda contro l'
Enterprise rapiscono nove membri dell'equipaggio per venderli come schiavi.
- T'Pol prende il grado di Commander della Flotta Stellare, ma non indossa la divisa della Flotta.
- Vengono completate le riparazioni all'Enterprise e la nave riprende lo spazio.
- Viene sostituita la poltrona del Capitano dell'Enterprise.
- I MACO restano a bordo dell'Enterprise.
- Borderland č il nome della zona di spazio al confine tra i Klingon e gli Orioniani.
- Arik Soong dice di avere trovato il modo di correggere geneticamente la sindrome di Sharat. Potrebbe essere un riferimento, con la grafia sbagliata, alla sindrome di Shalaft.
- Il modo in cui i MACO gestiscono l'abbordaggio č quantomeno opinabile: ad un certo punto scappano lasciando di fatto mano libera agli attaccanti.
- La partenza dell'Enterprise č uguale a quella vista in Broken Bow e in The Expanse; questa volta sono stati rimossi i due tecnici che si vedevano su una passerella mentre la nave passava sotto di loro.
- Nomination al premio Emmy 2005 nella categoria «Outstanding Stunt Coordination» (Vince Deadrick Jr.).
Archer: You programmed the pad to unlock... every security door in the building.
Arik Soong: I was particularly proud of that. I made it all the way to Sausalito. On the rare occasion I get stuck on a problem, I find a vigorous escape attempt helps to... clear the head.

Arik Soong: So did splitting the atom. Yet, the first ships to colonize the solar system were nuclear-powered.
Sato: The Borderland?
Reed: It's the area where the Klingon ship was attacked.
T'Pol: It's a volatile region between the Klingon Empire and the Orion Syndicate... It attracts the most dangerous elements from both.
Sato: Sorry I asked.
Malik: Wing-mounted disruptor cannons, photon torpedo launchers, this ship's an arsenal!
Tucker: It comes with everything but its own protein resequencer. For that I'll need another day.
Archer: Here we are again. ... Wouldn't have it any other way.
Archer: Interesting way to say «Hello».
Orioniano: You are now the property of the Orion Syndicate! Break the rules and you will suffer! Follow the rules and you will suffer less!
T'Pol: If you wish, I can teach you how to minimize your anxiety.
Jeffrey Pierce: Yeah. I'd like that. I'd like that a lot.
Orioniano: If you don't sell as a slave, I will sell you as food.
